This stretch of Hamma Hamma River is 3.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V+ section. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Shelton, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so     you won’t get lost. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The wild scenery of the Olympic Mountains is great. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Boulder Creek to Hamma Hamma Campground   section is one of them. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: The fine folks of Lilliwaup like to hang out close by, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Mount Jupiter Trail. Now, you may feel that's a lot but there's even more enjoyable things to do here in the Olympic Mountains. A spree to Potlatch State Park when you're here at Hamma Hamma River is a magnificent idea; do take a hike on the Royal Creek Trail.
