The starting point is not too far from Shelton, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers     in this state are not easy. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The Hamma Hamma Campground to gorge stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Potlatch State Park is a good site to explore on a gorgeous day, and you can have a fine hiking adventure along the Mount Jupiter Trail.
