The nature scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Longview-Kelso, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots     in Washington are harder than the national norm, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the 3100 Road to North Fork Toutle stretch is one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to   get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area: On a splendid day at Hoffstadt Creek you can take a hike along the Fawn Lake Trail, and when you're here it's always fun to visit Ike Kinswa State Park. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors exciting things the Northern Cascade Range has to offer. The Toutle River Trail is a glorious hiking trail in the vicinity of Hoffstadt Creek. The high level of precipitation makes Hoffstadt Creek a relatively wet location. The month with most of the rain is December while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
