The put-in is not too far from Port Angeles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Jefferson County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less |
manageable. The Ranger Station to Highway 101 at Oxbow section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the
| Olympic Mountains is a great experience. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Briefly about the general area: Near Hoh River you discover the
Bogachiel-Hoh Trail which is a fine hiking trail, and going for a hike on the Bogachiel Trail is always a wonderful adventure. Having a wonderful time in the Olympic Mountains is painless. Hoh River sees pretty high levels
of precipitation. November is the month that gets the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. For the duration of the months of summer, highs typically are in the 70's at Hoh River.
