Washington whitewater, Icicle Creek Chelan county, Snow Creek trailhead to Leavenworth Hatchery section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV+     2.2 miles   The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Ellensburg, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Icicle Creek is 2.2 miles long and it is classified as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. Getting some good     exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The nature scenery of Chelan County and the water flowing gracefully down Icicle Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area:   Here at Icicle Creek there are plenty of people from Leavenworth; going for a hike along the Snow Lakes Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Don't leave Icicle Creek without going to Lake Wenatchee State Park, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Miller Peak Trail. This is a great river. Near Icicle Creek you locate Tumwater Canyon which is a great site to go to. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Icicle Creek while nighttime lows are usually in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and night lows through the winter for Icicle Creek tend to be in the 10's.
