Washington whitewater, Illabot Creek Skagit county, to Rockport-Cascade Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS V     5 miles   The wonderful Washington scenery and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The to Rockport-Cascade Road stretch of Illabot Creek in Washington is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. The river winds through the Northern Cascade     Range and you get great scenery. The to Rockport-Cascade Road stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The put-in is not too far from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, as you can see on the road map further down. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking   there are lots of good spots for that around here. Briefly about the general area: Lots of folks from Marblemount come to Illabot Creek; a tour here wouldn’t be complete without a visit to close by Rockport State Park. That right there is a heap of entertaining stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Cascade Range has it all. Summertime highs at Illabot Creek commonly tend to be in the 70's with overnight lows in the 50's. During the winter the highs are typically in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Illabot Creek. Lots of rainfall falls at Illabot Creek.
