The starting point is not too far from Shelton, as you can see on the road map further down. This stretch of Jefferson Creek in Mason County is 2.1 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater paddling here in the Olympic   Mountains is a great experience. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Briefly about the general area: A wooded vicinity near Jefferson Creek is Hood Canal Ranger District; a spree to Lake Cushman State Park is a glorious idea. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Olympic Mountains. Jefferson Creek is a location with many visitors from Lilliwaup, and you can go for a hike on the Mount Jupiter Trail. This river has it all. A visit to Potlatch State Park when you're here at Jefferson Creek is never a bad idea.
