  The beautiful scenery of Skamania County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Cussed Hollow to FR 9039 section is just one of many. The Cussed Hollow to FR
    9039 stretch of Lewis River - North Fork in Washington is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip.
Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The put-in is not too far from  
Hood River, as you can see on the road map further down. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery.

Briefly about the general area:
Gifford Pinchot National Forest is worth stopping at if you're at Lewis River - North Fork, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Lewis River - North Fork; Ridge Trail is a nice local trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things in the Northern Cascade Range. Good hiking is available along the Wildcat Trail. Summertime at Lewis River - North Fork arrives with high temperatures in the 70's.
