This stretch of Little Nisqually River in Lewis County is 5.7 miles long and it is classified as a class IV+ section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people |
coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The average whitewater rafting
| or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. If you're coming from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area:
You'll meet a lot of people from Eatonville here. Little Nisqually River gets a lot of water. December is the wettest month with most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Summertime highs
at Little Nisqually River commonly tend to be in the 70's while night lows are ordinarily in the 40's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Little Nisqually River temperatures sink to the 30's.
