Washington whitewater, Little White Salmon River Skamania county, Willard to Columbia River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS IV-V+     5.5 miles   The put-in is not too far from Hood River, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Skamania County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The Willard to Columbia River section of Little White Salmon River in Skamania County is 5.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V+ section. You can pitch a tent or park     your RV at a nearby campground. The Central Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay   the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: The Little Huckleberry Trail is a good hiking trail in the vicinity of Little White Salmon River, and you're sure to encounter some wonderful folks from Underwood here. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Central Cascade Range. Wygant State Park is a tremendous spot to stretch your legs a bit, and if you're looking for a beach nearby we recommend Koberg Beach. A river like this is too good to miss.
