Washington whitewater, Martin Creek

King county, along FR 6710 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS V+     3 miles
The nature scenery of King County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Ellensburg, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The along FR 6710 stretch of Martin Creek in Washington is 3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V+ section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The rivers
for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The along FR 6710 stretch is
one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking
shoes. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
Don't leave Martin Creek without first paying a visit to Deception Falls. Wenatchee National Forest is a delightful spot; there's good hiking along the Lake Michael Trail. This river is so wonderful. Here at Martin Creek there are plenty of folks from Skykomish, and the skiing at Stevens Pass is great. Good hiking is available along the Escondido Trail, and don't leave Martin Creek without first checking out Captain Point.
