Washington whitewater, Mineral Creek

Lewis county, North Fork to Alder Lake section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II     5.5 miles
If you're coming from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The North Fork to Alder Lake stretch of Mineral Creek is 5.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget
that many runs in this state are not easy. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the playfulness of the water are in themselves
reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This river system has a few good paddling sections
and the North Fork to Alder Lake section is one of them. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
The wonderful folks of Mineral like to hang out close by, and obviously, all our national parks are good places to have a look at and Mount Rainier National Park is no exception. Yeah, come up here to the Northern Cascade Range for a good time. The amount of precipitation that falls at Mineral Creek is close to the national average.
