Washington whitewater, Quinault River

Jefferson county, Pony Bridge to Graves Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV-V     3 miles
This stretch of Quinault River in Washington is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Jefferson County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Aberdeen, as you can see on the road map further down. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The
beautiful Olympic Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive
a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Pony Bridge to Graves Creek stretch is just one of many. This stretch is short so it's not
like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near.

Briefly about the general area:
Olympic National Forest is a fine site to stretch your legs a bit, and if the weather is tremendous, you can go for a hike along the Skyline Trail. So much enjoyable stuff in the Olympic Mountains, just remarkable. The Elwha River Trail is a good hiking trail near Quinault River. All through the warmest time of the year here at Quinault River, high temperatures usually get into the 70's, and the overnight is fairly cooler of course, mostly in the 40's.
