CLASS II     6.5 miles

July isn't the driest month here. August and September are. Says Keith Olson

The starting point is not too far from Aberdeen, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of Jefferson County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving.
No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. The wild scenery of the Olympic Mountains is great. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
The Cannings Creek to South Shore Road access section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. This stretch of Quinault River in Jefferson County is 6.5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might have to
settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
