CLASS IV     3.6 miles
  The Road end to Beckler River section of Rapid River is 3.6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The natural beauty of Washington and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. You might have to settle for
    a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature
are sure to keep you coming back for more. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Road end to Beckler River section is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this  
one you always get great scenery along the way too. The put-in is not too far from Ellensburg, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that.

Briefly about the general area:
The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Stevens Pass. Go for a hike on the Lost Creek Ridge Trail, and if you're visiting from Skykomish, you won't be the only one. This river is so great. close to Rapid River you'll discover a wooded area called Skykomish Ranger District. Summertime highs at Rapid River ordinarily tend to be in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 50's.
