  The natural beauty of Spokane County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The Rockford to Hangman Creek stretch of Rock Creek - Latah Creek Tributary in Washington is 13.5 miles long and has
    been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The put-in location is a short drive from Spokane, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Getting a good
workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.  
You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

Briefly about the general area:
The nice people of Valleyford like to hang out close by; you can have a tremendous hiking adventure along the John Wayne Trail - Tekoa Section. For the duration of the warm months, highs usually are in the 80's at Rock Creek - Latah Creek Tributary, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Rock Creek - Latah Creek Tributary sink into the 20's.
