  The starting location is a short drive from Port Angeles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Not
    too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Salmon River are pretty good. This stretch is mid length,
you can easily run it on an afternoon. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch of Salmon River in Jefferson/Grays Harbor County is 8.2 miles long and has been rated as a class II(IV) section by  
American Whitewater. When you're paddling down a Olympic Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.

Briefly about the general area:
At Salmon River you always meet someone from Amanda Park. Salmon River is a wet spot that gets a large amount of rainfall. December is the wettest month with most rain while August is generally the driest month. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Salmon River. During the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Salmon River.
