The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Shelton, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are     not easy. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The scenic beauty of Mason County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. The Olympic Mountains scenery is wonderful. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more.
