The wonderful Snohomish County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. The Bedal Campground to Whitechuck River stretch of Sauk River is 8.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. |
There's camping available near Sauk River. If you're coming from Mount Vernon-Anacortes it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. This is a pretty decent length section,
| suitable for an afternoon trip. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Bedal Campground to Whitechuck River stretch is just one of many. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Lost Creek Ridge Trail is always a perfect adventure. There are delightful locations
to explore along the Meadow Mountain Trail. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Sauk River. Through the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's. All through the winter highs are frequently in the
40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Sauk River. Sauk River is a wet spot that gets a good deal of rain. November is the wettest month with most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
