Washington whitewater, Silver Creek

Snohomish county, Quartz Creek to North Fork Skykomish section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV-V     1.5 miles
The scenic beauty of Washington and the water flowing gracefully down Silver Creek attract people from near and far. If you're coming from Mount Vernon-Anacortes it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section of Silver Creek is 1.5 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some
time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The
beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit
harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners.

Briefly about the general area:
Big Gulch is a nice place to visit close by, and a spree to Wallace Falls State Park invigorates the soul. Yep, outdoors entertaining stuff truly is abundant here in the Northern Cascade Range. The snow is magnificent at Stevens Pass, and Silver Creek is not far at all from Baring. This is such a wonderful river. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Silver Creek.
