CLASS III-V     12 miles
  The put-in location is a short drive from Longview-Kelso, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The nature scenery of Washington and the cool fresh water have people coming here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The wild
    scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area
has a large number of paddling places. The Calamity Creek to Yale Reservoir stretch of Siouxon Creek in Washington is 12 miles long and is a class III-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Calamity Creek to Yale  
Reservoir section is one of them. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.

Briefly about the general area:
Hiking along the Horseshoe Ridge Trail is tremendous fun, and while you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Cougar. If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Northern Cascade Range. Going for a hike along the Siouxon Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. Siouxon Creek sees pretty high levels of rain.
