The Brandeberry Creek to Hyas Creek stretch of Sitkum River is 9.6 miles long and it is classified as a class II-V section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Clallam County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Port Angeles, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't
matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if
you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Brandeberry Creek to Hyas Creek section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains and you get great scenery. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The sections for whitewater
rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often more challenging than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving.
