This section of Sol Duc River is 11 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Port Angeles, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. The river winds through the Olympic Mountains and you get great scenery. available near Sol Duc River. The scenic beauty of Clallam County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your
| camping stuff. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: On a great day at Sol Duc River you can take a hike along the Bogachiel Trail; if you're visiting from Port Angeles, you won't be the only one.
If you adore the outdoors you'll adore it here in the Olympic Mountains. The Bogachiel-Hoh Trail is a good hiking trail right next door to Sol Duc River. Sol Duc River regularly gets a good deal of rainfall. The month of
November is the wettest with most of the rain while July is generally the driest month. During the warmest time of the year, highs usually are in the 70's at Sol Duc River, and during the night it cools down to the 40's.
