The Lower Burnett to above Carbon River section of South Praire Creek is 5.8 miles long and it is classified as a class II+ section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a     camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Washington are harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The   Lower Burnett to above Carbon River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Briefly about the general area: A great site like Flaming Geyser State Park in the vicinity of South Praire Creek is too good to leave out, and South Praire Creek is not far at all from South Prairie. Man, is there a heap of exciting stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. Going to Nolte State Park next to South Praire Creek is a tremendous thing to do. At South Praire Creek during the months of summer highs are in the 70's while nighttime lows are typically in the 50's.
