Washington whitewater, Stebbins Creek

Skamania county, to Washougal River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV-V(V+)     3 miles
The scenic beauty of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Hood River, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The to Washougal River stretch of Stebbins Creek is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV-V(V+) section of whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river
where you can camp. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Washington are often tougher than in other states,
so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the to Washougal River section is one of them. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. You might have to settle for a
hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great.

Briefly about the general area:
Benson State Park is a tremendous site to stretch your legs a bit, and you'll meet a lot of people from North Bonneville here. All year is a great time in the Northern Cascade Range if you like the outdoors. Go for a hike on the Washougal Trail, and sites like Ainsworth State Park are magnificent to have a look at. The surroundings of this river have so much to offer.
