The natural beauty of Jefferson County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. |

| a class II-III(V+) section by American Whitewater. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. If you're coming from Port Angeles it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The Olympic Mountains scenery is wonderful. Road to Clearwater Campground stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system.
Briefly about the general area: Why not take a refreshing hike along the Bogachiel-Hoh Trail; do take a hike on the
Bogachiel Trail. So much amusing stuff in the Olympic Mountains, just tremendous. At Stequaleho River during the days of summer highs are in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. Through
the wintertime highs are regularly in the 40's; night lows through the wintertime for Stequaleho River tend to be in the 30's. Stequaleho River sees pretty high levels of rain.
