  The starting location is a reasonable drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The scenic beauty of Skagit/Snohomish County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. When you're paddling down a Northern Cascade Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging
    than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll
find lots of paddling rivers. The Confluence with South Branch to bridge below Moose Creek section of Stillaguamish River - North Fork is 8 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might  
have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
While you're here at Stillaguamish River - North Fork you can take a hike along the Finney Peak Trail, and you're sure to stumble upon some cheerful folks from Darrington here. Just can't get enough of the Northern Cascade Range. If the weather is wonderful here at Stillaguamish River - North Fork, you can go for a hike along the Gee Point Trail.
