  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. If you're coming from Mount Vernon-Anacortes it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section of Stillaguamish River - South Fork in Snohomish County is 6.5 miles long and is according
    to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there
are lots of good rivers for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Deer Creek to Mallardy Creek section is just one of them. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great. The wonderful Washington scenery  
and the cool fresh water have people coming here. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip.

Briefly about the general area:
Here at Stillaguamish River - South Fork you'll possibly meet some folks from Granite Falls, and unsurprisingly, everybody loves Wallace Falls State Park. Now, you may imagine that's plenty but there's even more amusing things to do here in the Northern Cascade Range. All through the days of summer at Stillaguamish River - South Fork highs are commonly in the 70's, and the overnight is fairly colder of course, ordinarily in the 50's.
