  This section of Stillaguamish River - South Fork is 9 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III+ section. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The put-in location is a short drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, please print out a copy of
    the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Mallardy Creek to Verlot section is just one
of many. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The natural beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The river winds through the Northern Cascade Range and you get  
great scenery. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people.

Briefly about the general area:
Going for a hike on the Finney Peak Trail is always a tremendous adventure. Wallace Falls State Park is worth taking a look at if you're at Stillaguamish River - South Fork, and there are plenty of folks from Granite Falls here. This river is so perfect. Throughout the summer months at Stillaguamish River - South Fork temperatures are usually in the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's.
