  The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Verlot to Granite Falls stretch of Stillaguamish River - South Fork in Snohomish County is 12.3 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Washington and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves
    reasons enough to come here to paddle. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The campgrounds here at Stillaguamish River - South Fork are pretty good.
You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The Verlot to Granite Falls stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. If you've been whitewater rafting  
and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful.
