Washington whitewater, Taylor River

King county, Marten Creek to Middle Fork Snoqualmie section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV     3 miles
The Marten Creek to Middle Fork Snoqualmie stretch of Taylor River in Washington is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery is an added bonus. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do
book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. If you're coming from Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue it's
not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might
find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy.

Briefly about the general area:
Alpental is a very popular ski area nearby, and Taylor River is right by the Mount Defiance Trail. But wait, there's more exciting stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. The wonderful people of Baring like to hang out nearby; hiking along the Pratt Lake Trail is perfect fun. Coming to this river is always a good idea. A visit to Olallie State Park when you're here at Taylor River is never a bad idea. The high level of rainfall makes Taylor River a rather wet site.
