  The wonderful Yakima County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Tieton River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. If
    you're coming from Yakima it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. This is not the only paddling stretch in this
river system, there are others too. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. This stretch of Tieton River in Yakima County is 11.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III+ section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots  
of people.

Briefly about the general area:
Near Tieton River you come across the Grey Rock Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail. At Tieton River all through the warm months highs are in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Tieton River. Tieton River commonly gets much rain. Through January this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is July.
