The Highway 504 Bridge to Tower Road Bridge stretch of Toutle River is 9.5 miles long and is a class III+(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere.     You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The natural beauty of Cowlitz County and the water flowing gracefully down Toutle River make the trip here worthwhile. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The Highway 504 Bridge to Tower Road Bridge section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Briefly   about the general area: Everybody loves Seaquest State Park, and one of the best things about this place is its proximity to Cottonwood Beach. Here at Toutle River there are plenty of folks from Silverlake; you can spend the day on the beach at Red Mill Beach. This is a really good river. Toutle River typically gets lots of precipitation. Through December this area sees the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. For the period of the summer months, highs frequently are in the 70's at Toutle River, and through the night it cools down to the 50's.
