Washington whitewater, Toutle River - North Fork Cowlitz county, Green River to South Fork confluence section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II+     10 miles   This stretch of Toutle River - North Fork in Washington is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class II+ section by American Whitewater. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The beautiful scenery of Cowlitz County and the cool fresh water beats anything. And of course, there     are campgrounds nearby. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. The put-in is not too far from Longview-Kelso, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are   sure to keep you coming back for more. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Briefly about the general area: Good hiking is available along the Georges Peak Trail, and Ike Kinswa State Park is worth a visit. So many enjoyable things to do in the Northern Cascade Range, not enough time. Lots of people from Toutle come to Toutle River - North Fork, and Seaquest State Park is a great spot to go. This river is a wonderful place to visit. A large amount of rainfall falls at Toutle River - North Fork. December is when you get the most rain here while July is regularly the driest month.
