  The wonderful Washington scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. The FR 43 to Wind River section of Trout Creek in Skamania County is 6.3 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Hood River, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for
    this river. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in
this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There's camping available  
near Trout Creek. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the FR 43 to Wind River section is one of them.

Briefly about the general area:
Not far from Trout Creek you can enjoy the trees of Wind River Experimental Forest; you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Rock Creek Trail. If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Northern Cascade Range. A visit to John B. Yeon State Park when you're here at Trout Creek is a perfect idea, and Trout Creek is a spot with many visitors from North Bonneville.
