The put-in location is a short drive from Ellensburg, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Kittitas County and the water flowing gracefully down Waptus River make the trip here worthwhile. The Waptus Lake trail to Salmon La Sac section of Waptus River in Washington     is 4 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III+(IV) section by American Whitewater. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Waptus Lake trail to Salmon La Sac section is one of them. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The river winds through   the Northern Cascade Range and you get great scenery. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: A tour to Lake Easton State Park rejuvenates the soul, and there's splendid hiking along the Davis Peak Lookout Trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Northern Cascade Range. It's always perfect to go to Salmon la Sac; a cool spot to pop by is China Point. This river has it all. Little Salmon la Sac is a good local attraction, and the nice folks of Easton like to hang out close by.
