  If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Washington you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The wonderful Washington scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. This section of Washougal River in Washington is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class
    V section. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There aren’t
any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Doc's Drop to Dougan Falls section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The put-in is not too far from Hood River, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost.  
Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Cascade Range is a great experience. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots.

Briefly about the general area:
Take a hike on the Washougal Trail, and don't leave without dropping by Benson State Park. And that's not everything you can do here in the Northern Cascade Range. Have a glorious hiking adventure along the Green Leaf Trail. A pleasant spot like Shepperds Dell State Park right next door to Washougal River is too good to leave out. Washougal River sees pretty high levels of precipitation.
