Clark Skamania county, Highway 140 to Washougal section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS III-IV     7.3 miles

Come stay at River's Rest if you love to kayak Washougal's WAVE!

We have an apartment that sleeps up to six people. We are located right past mile marker 10 on the Washougal River.
Easy access to our river bank.

The Rapids right below us have an eddy so it is a great place to practice when the water is right. Check us out! Says Cindy and Todd O'Mealy

What river gauge do you use, and what are bottom and top limitations as far
as levels are concerned for rafts? Says Anonymous

I find this to be the best river ever for a beginner white water paddler. It has excellent eddies; big roller waves; lots of rapids and tons of places to rest, regroup
and try again. Says Dee

This section of Washougal River is 7.3 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Washington and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The starting location is a short drive from Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton,

there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The beauty of the Northern Cascade Range is a great plus for this river.
