  The put-in is not too far from Bellingham, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch of Whatcom Creek is 2 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV+(V+) section by American Whitewater. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Washington is often tougher than elsewhere, so don't
    forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The Lake Whatcom to Yew St. Bridge stretch
is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. There's camping available near Whatcom Creek. The nature scenery of Whatcom County and the water flowing gracefully down Whatcom Creek have people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. There are some good hotels near the river, and if you make reservations in advance  
you're all set. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful.

Briefly about the general area:
You ought to beyond doubt have a look at delightful Blue Heron Beach while you're here at Whatcom Creek. Everybody loves Larrabee State Park; if you want to hit the beach, Samish Beach is in close proximity. This river is so perfect. There are plenty of folks from Bellingham here at Whatcom Creek, and Bay View State Park is a splendid site to go. For the duration of the summer here at Whatcom Creek, high temperatures commonly reach the 70's. Through the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's.
