This section of White Salmon River in Klickitat County is 5.1 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. The wild scenery of the Northern Cascade Range is great.     You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at White Salmon River are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The natural beauty of Klickitat County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The put-in   location is a short drive from Hood River, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Briefly about the general area: When you're here at White Salmon River it's always fun to check out Seneca Fouts Memorial State Park, and Trout Lake Valley is another fine spot to visit nearby. But wait, there's more entertaining stuff to do in the Northern Cascade Range. White Salmon River is in close proximity to Koberg Beach State Park which is a wonderful place. Going for a hike on the Little White Salmon Trail is always a great adventure; you're sure to encounter some wonderful people from Trout Lake here.
