Washington whitewater, Whitechuck River

Snohomish county, Bridge above Crystal Creek to Sauk River confluence section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV     6 miles
The starting location is a reasonable drive from Mount Vernon-Anacortes, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive
a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The natural beauty of Washington and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. This is one of a small
number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The Bridge above Crystal Creek to Sauk River confluence stretch of Whitechuck River is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Northern Cascade Range scenery
is an added bonus. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
Hiking along the Meadow Mountain Trail is nice fun, and you can have a great hiking adventure along the Lost Creek Ridge Trail. Be careful coming to the Northern Cascade Range, you might not ever wanna return back home again. For the period of the summer months here at Whitechuck River, high temperatures mostly reach the 70's, and the night is a little chillier of course, frequently in the 50's.
