  The put-in is not too far from Hood River, as you can see on the road map further down. The average Washington whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The natural beauty of Skamania County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whether you're whitewater
    rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in
advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Northern Cascade Range scenery is wonderful. The High Bridge to Columbia River section of Wind River in Washington is 5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V(V+) section. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the High Bridge to Columbia River stretch is just one of them. There's camping available near Wind River. Getting some good exercise and just  
hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come.

Briefly about the general area:
Beacon Rock State Park is a fine site to stretch your legs a bit, and going for a hike on the Huckleberry Trail is always a good adventure. This location, the Northern Cascade Range, has so much outdoors enjoyable things. Starvation Creek State Park is a beautiful place any time of year; there are great places to explore along the Cedar Creek Trail. This river is a wonderful place to visit. There are plenty of folks from Carson here at Wind River. Summertime highs at Wind River frequently tend to be in the 70's.
