This stretch of Armstrong Creek is 4.1 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Oak Hill, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while
    are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The wonderful Fayette County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Armstrong Creek beats
anything. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in West Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners.

you always meet someone from Kimberly, and a glorious place close by is Stop Hollow. A trip to Hawks Nest State Park when you're here at Armstrong Creek is never a bad idea. Armstrong Creek sees pretty high levels of rain. July is when you get the most rain here, and October is the month with the least moisture. Summertime highs at Armstrong Creek frequently tend to be in the 80's while overnight lows are usually in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Armstrong Creek.
