If you're coming from Oak Hill it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia are easier than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. This section of Big     Clear Creek is 4.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: You'll meet a lot of folks from Quinwood here, and there's   good hiking along the Perry Ridge Trail. The Hinkle Branch Trail offers hiking at its best. Big Clear Creek gets a lot of water. Of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. All through the warm months at Big Clear Creek highs are typically in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's with temperatures at Big Clear Creek dipping down into the 10's through winter nights.
