  The starting location is a reasonable drive from Oak Hill, as you can see on the road map further down. The nature scenery of Summers County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. This section of Big Creek in West Virginia is 2.5 miles long and is according to
    American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a pretty short section so no
need to bring snacks. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers.

Briefly about the general
If you're popping by Big Creek from Hinton, you won't be the only one. Bluestone State Park is a nice site, and obviously, A trip to Sawyer Hollow is always fun. This river is so great. The warmest time of the year at Big Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Big Creek are in the 10's. Big Creek is a rather wet place usually with a lot of rainfall. July is the wettest month with most rain; February is when it's the driest.
