  The nature scenery of Nicholas/Braxton County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The starting point is not too far from Oak Hill, as you can see on the road map further down. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Cora Brown Bridge to confluence of Diatter Run stretch is one of them. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother
    nature are great attractions for lots of people. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There are campgrounds quite near
the river where you can camp. The Cora Brown Bridge to confluence of Diatter Run section of Birch River in West Virginia is 10.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag.
