  The North Fork Confluence to Hendricks section of Blackwater River is 7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V section. The put-in location is a short drive from Morgantown, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there
    are others too. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater
rafting or kayaking there are lots of good spots for that around here. The natural beauty of West Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down Blackwater River beats anything. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip.

Briefly about the general area:
Near Blackwater River you locate the Limerock Trail which is a great hiking trail, and if you're stopping by from Hambleton, you won't be the
 
only one. Going for a hike on the Canyon Rim Trail is always a great adventure, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Canaan Valley since you're here. This river has so much to offer. A tour to Blackwater River wouldn’t be complete without a journey to nearby Blackwater Falls State Park; Blackwater River lays in the shadow of the Backbone Mountain. Blackwater River is a rather wet place ordinarily with a large amount of rain. Most of the rain falls throughout July, and the driest of the months is February. For the duration of the warm months at Blackwater River highs are usually in the 80's.
