  If you're coming from Clarksburg it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in West Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers in this state are good for beginners. The Rangoon to Tygart Junction section of Buckhannon River in West Virginia is 2.3 miles long and
    has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. This section is quite short so no need to bring
snacks. The beautiful scenery of West Virginia and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The campgrounds here at Buckhannon River are pretty good. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be  
into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here.

Briefly about the general area:
A good place like Audra State Park near Buckhannon River is too great to leave out, and during your visit here you'll meet some people from Volga for sure. A visit to Tygart Lake State Park when you're here at Buckhannon River is a great idea. For the period of the long summer days at Buckhannon River highs are generally in the 80's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are generally in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Buckhannon River temperatures dip to the 10's.
