The starting point is not too far from Morgantown, as you can see on the road map further down. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This stretch of Cheat River in Preston County     is 5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Cheat River without first   checking out Dunkard Bottom, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Kingwood here. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Cheat River, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Cheat River. Cheat River is a good place of normal rain. For the period of July this area sees the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
