The put-in location is a short drive from Morgantown, as you can see on the road map further     down. The beautiful scenery of West Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down Cheat River - Shavers Fork are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The average West Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections in this state are safe for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. This is not the only   paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. The campgrounds here at Cheat River - Shavers Fork are pretty good. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here.
